There are no more half-yearly and annual examinations in secondary schools from sixth to ninth grade. From next year (year 2024), there will be two summative evaluations in classes six, seven, eight and nine. Semi-annual summative assessment will be conducted in the middle of the year and annual summative assessment will be taken at the end of the year yet the pre-selection and selection exams will be held in class 10.
The academic calendar was published in a notification issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education on Thursday (December 14); this information is known from the curriculum. Mosammat Rahima Akhtar, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry, signed the notification issued by order of the President.
According to the notified academic calendar, the six-monthly summative assessment and pre-selection examination of the new curriculum of secondary and lower secondary level public and private schools in May 2024. The evaluation will start from 23rd May and will continue till 9th June. The date of publication of the six-monthly collective evaluation and pre-election exam results has been fixed on July 10. The annual summative assessment of the new curriculum of students in secondary and lower secondary educational institutions will start from November 21 and continue till December 8. The results of the annual collective assessment will be published on December 30.
According to the sources of the Ministry of Education consistent with this schedule, six-monthly and annual summative evaluation should be organized. The evaluation documents must be preserved for one year. Assessment date cannot be changed. In order to change in special circumstances, the permission of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (MAUSHI) must be obtained. Teachers will formulate assessment questions. Questions collected from any other source cannot be evaluated.
On the other hand, in the year 2024, there will be a new curriculum in the first, second and third grades of primary school. There will be no exam in these three classes. Half-yearly and annual examinations will be held only in class IV and V. From 2025, the new curriculum will be introduced in IV-V. As a result, half-yearly and annual examinations will completely be stopped from next year.
