YouTube has posted on their official handle about RJ Kibria, one of the most popular content creators of Bangladesh, did a great job of repatriating more than 350 lost people to their families through his YouTube program ‘Apan Thikana’. This is the first time YouTube has posted about any content creators from Bangladesh.
Recently RJ Kibria was interviewed by YouTube about the great work of bringing back 350 missing persons to their families mainly through the ‘Apan Thikana’ YouTube channel. YouTube wrote about the interview in their official blog post titled — ‘Champion Reunification – How a Content Creator Helped Reconnect 350 Separated Families in the Asia Pacific Region.’
YouTube said in its report, that in the last three years, ‘Apan Thikana’ has produced more than 400 episodes and helped reunite around 350 families.
What was your driving force behind your address and how did you come up with the idea of returning missing people to their families? Responding to such queries from YouTube, RJ Kibria said, I was publishing content on my own YouTube channel ‘Kibria RJ’ and in my videos I share people’s life stories.
One of these interviews one of my guests shared that he lost his family as a child, Kibria said. When that interview was posted on my YouTube channel, we succeeded in identifying the missing family and they were reunited after almost two decades. This was our first success and from that the idea of creating a channel to reunite separated families was born.
‘We saw the need to create an independent channel to enhance the noble work we wanted to achieve and we worked on this program with full force when everyone was in quarantine in 2020 due to the pandemic.’ He added. Through an independent YouTube channel, ‘Apan Thikana’ He has managed to trace and reconnect 350 families who were separated due to various reasons.
In addition, in an interview given to YouTube, RJ Kibria highlighted the process of working on his ‘Apan Thikana’ program, the aspects of success, the content made with the life stories of the people who came to the program.
Incidentally, during the Corona pandemic, RJ Kibria started the channel ‘Apan Thikana’ based on his earlier ‘Lost and Found’ radio programme. ‘Apan Thikana’ with its own unique charm shows simple and non-communal stories of common people who lost their families in childhood. Heart touching and emotional videos have created popularity among Bangladeshi audiences. As a result, RJ Kibria’s videos have quickly become popular among the people of different countries including Bangladesh. It has also become a means of re-establishing family connections with lost family members.
