Sanjida Parveen Ananya is a 4th year student of Journalism and Media Studies Department at Stamford University. He dreamed of standing on his own feet since his student days. From that passion, she built the food court ‘Just Yum’ at Bailey Road in the capital with her own efforts. Students from schools and colleges in the surrounding area, including Stamford, regularly come to taste her shop.
Sanjida Parveen is from Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat district. Instead of going home on university vacation, she thought of doing something hemself. She started this food court business from that thought.
But Ananya’s journey was not easy at all. She said, there are many such food courts in Belly Road. All shops are for boys. It was not easy to sit with my shop in the middle of it. I got a lot of courage and inspiration from family support.
Ananya’s Just Yum offers a variety of fast food items including burgers, nachos, pasta, wings, sandwiches, french fries etc.
She said, you know that even if women want to stand, they cannot stand due to various obstacles. Because in many cases, someone in the society is doing well; It can’t stand a class, specially in the case of women, this obstacle is a little more.
Nimiti, a class VII student, lives next to Bailey Road. She first came to eat at Ananya’s shop. She commented, I am the first to come to this shop. I really liked seeing the use of the staffs. The reason for coming to this store is that this store seems exceptional to me.
About Ananya’s efforts, Mizu Ahmed, a student of the same university, said, She is the elder sister of my department. The work she has done as a woman entrepreneur is certainly commendable. The taste and quality of all her food is very good. Such hard work along with studies is certainly commendable.
