An official of the economics department has been accused of molesting a student at Chittagong University (CU). The department authorities have formed an investigation committee regarding this incident. Accused Mr. Salimullah Ansari is working as Section Officer of Economics Department of the university.
The two complainant students gave a written complaint to the department chairman against this officer. Besides, temporary suspension is also recommended to the authorities. They said in a written statement that the incident took place in the office of the university’s economics department last Wednesday (December 6).
In a written complaint, the students said that a third-year student of the department went to the office in search of water as there was no water in the department’s filter after the class ended on December 6 around 1:30. At that time, Salimullah, an employee of the department, found her alone and tried to molest her. It is mentioned in the letter that he has tried to do this with some unnamed female students of the department.
When asked about the complaint, Salimullah told The Daily Campus that this is a completely fabricated allegation. There is no truth to this. My daughter studies in class nine. I myself feel ashamed after knowing that how is this possible?. It is a baseless accusation.
