The Great Victory Day will be celebrated on Saturday (December 16) through various programs at Dhaka University (DU). On this occasion, the national flag will be hoisted at 5:45 am in the important buildings of the university including the Vice-Chancellor’s building.
On the day, under the leadership of vice-chancellor Prof. A.S.M Maqsud Kamal, teachers, students, officers and employees of the university will march to lay wreaths at Savar National Memorial at 5:50 a.m. Besides, there will be a voluntary blood donation program under the initiative of ‘Bandhan’ at the -teacher- student centre from 10 am.
additionally, a concert will be performed at the central playground, a joint initiative of Dhaka University and Chayanot. At 6 in the evening, a discussion meeting on ‘Ideology of Liberation War, Best Use of Consciousness and Digital Technology and Significance of Victory Day’ will be organized at the Teacher- Student Centre (TSC) auditorium.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Prof. A.S.M Maqsud Kamal will preside over the discussion. There will be a cultural program jointly organized by the University’s Department of Music, Department of Dance and Department of Theater and Performance Studies at 7 pm in the same hall.
Documentaries and photographs related to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Great Liberation War, the Great Language Movement and the Great Freedom Struggle will be displayed under the management of various residential halls of the University.
On the occasion of the day, prayers will be offered for the salvation of the souls of the martyrs and for the prosperity and progress of the country in various halls including the central mosque of Bad Johar and the other mosques in residential areas. Prayer meetings will be held in other places of worship of the university to pray for the peace of the souls of the martyrs. Important buildings including Arts Building, Curzon Hall, Teacher- Student Centre (TSC) and Smriti Chirantan are meanwhile lightened on the occasion of the day.
