The Proctorial Body of the University took a young man named Farhad Majumdar into police custody on Tuesday for allegedly harassing and abusing a female student of the Anthropology Department of Comilla University (CoU). Later, he was released on bond on the condition of not staying in the area for the next one year.
The victim of the harassment confirmed the matter to The Daily Campus on Wednesday (December 15) afternoon. Earlier, in the presence of police, proctorial body and family members of the accused youth, a bond was taken from him for not staying in the area for one year.
The victim said, I still have to stay in the campus area for six months because I still have one semester left. If I file a lawsuit, I may suffer a bigger loss in the future. Because that boy (accused) is a drug addict and this is why a compromise has been made by signing a bond. For now I am satisfied.
According to the University’s Proctorial Body sources, the sister of the accused was called and a bond was taken on the condition that the accused Farhad Majumder will not stay in the area for one year. Police administration, proctorial body and influential people of the area were present at that time.
Before this, a local youth called Farhad Majumdar, harassed and abused the girl at Ansar Camp near Shalbon Museum at around 7:30 pm last Tuesday. Later, the CoU general students caught him and brought him to the proctor’s office of the university.
Later he was handed over to the police with the intervention of the Proctorial Body. The accused Fahad admitted that he was drunk at the time of the incident before the Proctorial Body of the University.
